The detergent compartment was still damp when detergent was added.
Only add cleaning agent when the detergent compartment is dry.

Detergent residue in the detergent compartment
Detergent residue is left in the dishwasher’s detergent compartment at the end of a program. The cleaning agent has not fully dissolved.
The middle spray arm is clogged.
Turn off the dishwasher.
Remove the spray arm as follows:
Push the middle spray arm upward to engage the ratchet, then unscrew the spray arm .
Use a pointed object to push food particles that are stuck in the spray arm jets into the spray arm.
Rinse the spray arms thoroughly under running water.
Reinstall the spray arms and check that they rotate freely.
The lower basket has been loaded incorrectly.
There are large objects (such as pizza dishes) in the lower basket in front of the dispenser unit obstructing the water jets or the flap of the dispenser unit.
Load the front area of the lower basket with small plates so that the dispenser unit flap can open and the water jets are not obstructed.
The cleaning agent has not fully dissolved.
Dishwasher tabs purchased from suppliers other than Miele may take longer to dissolve than Miele UltraTabs.
Additionally, dishwasher tabs may not dissolve completely when the QuickIntenseWash program (if available) is used.
Use Miele UltraTabs; they have been designed specifically for Miele dishwashers.
For thorough and gentle cleaning of glasses, dishware, and cutlery, Miele recommends using Miele products which care for your dishwasher at the same time.
